On Thurs., June 5, Parsons Behle & Latimer (Parsons), in collaboration with the Montana Economic Partnership (MEP), hosted a well-attended Montana Legislative Recap at the Holiday Inn Missoula Downtown. The event attracted more than 90 business owners, professional service providers and civic leaders, including Missoula Mayor Andrea Davis.
The session provided a comprehensive overview of the 2025 legislative session, focusing on new laws and policy shifts with potential legal and financial implications for Montana businesses. Parsons’ attorneys delivered targeted presentations across several key areas:
Civil Liability – Shareholder Jeffrey R. Kuchel outlined recent changes in tort law and their potential impact on business risk management.
Property and Zoning – Associate Jazmynn B. Pok discussed updates to zoning regulations and land use planning, including the implications of Missoula’s “Our Missoula 2045” land use plan.
Environment and Energy – Associate Mathew T. Bain addressed new environmental compliance standards and energy development policies.
Employment and Business – Associate Leah Trahan covered evolving labor laws, wage regulations, and workplace compliance requirements.
Taxes and Appropriations – Ross P. Keogh, managing shareholder of Parsons’ Missoula office, provided insights into tax code changes and state budget allocations affecting local enterprises.
The event commenced with welcoming remarks from MEP CEO Grant Kier and Parsons and MEP Director Liz M. Mellem, who emphasized the importance of proactive legal and policy awareness in fostering a resilient business environment.
Mayor Andrea Davis, recognized earlier this year as one of USA Today’s Women of the Year for her leadership in affordable housing and civic engagement, was among the notable attendees. Her presence underscored the event’s significance in aligning municipal leadership with the business community’s interests.
